I see a lot of sites which use Google Adsense. Of course you can earn some money with Adsense, but I think it is not always smart.
In general, there are two categories of websites:
- Content sites, websites with specific information, weblogs, news sites etc.
- Ecommerce sites, websites where you can buy products or services online.
To my opinion there are a number of reasons you shouldn’t use Google Adsense on an Ecommerce site.
- Google Adsense shows ads of your competitors
You don’t have to be a commercial spirit to understand it is not reasonable to send your customers to your competitors. However, there is some good news. Google gives you the opportunity to block your competitor’s URL. This also means you constantly have to pay attention to new competitors. - Visitors will be diverted from your sales descriptions
When you are selling products or services you don’t want to divert your customers. Otherwise your conversion and sales will drop. - Ads without any relation can harm the reputation of your website
Although Google tries to show related ads, there is always a possibility you will get some unrelated ads. Often this means customers become confused and leave. - Google Adsense always opens on the same page
Google doesn’t allow sites to open on a new page. Normally, this means that a customer who clicks on an ad will never return to your website again.
Summary
When you have an Ecommerce site keep in mind that Google Adsense will probably decrease your internet sales. This means that for an honest decision you have to compare the few cents Adsense income with you loss of sales. Conclusion; never use Google Adsense on your Ecommerce Site.
