8 Tips for Bloggers to make more Money with Google Adsense

February 18th, 2008 · No Comments

Lots of people are blogging and the majority use Google Adsense to earn a few dollars or euros. When you are one of these bloggers you probably have one question: “What can I do to maximize my Adsense income?”

Do you recognize yourself? In that case especially for you, I have 8 tips to increase your Adsense income.

  1. Combine your ads with your website design
Make sure the colors of your ads agree with the colors of your website. Now it looks like your ads are a part of the “normal” website and visitors are more willing to read your ads.
  2. Focus your content
One of the advances of Google Adsense is that all ads are relevant to your content. Write an article about laptops and you will get ads about laptops or write an article about dogs and you will get ads about dog-food. Knowing this, you can write an article about more expensive keywords. This means you will receive more money per click. Although keep in mind that all articles agree with the topics of your blog. Otherwise your loyal visitors will be confused and will avoid your weblog.
  3. Update your weblog regularly
The more updates you make the more content on your weblog. More content means more keywords but more important more content means more visitors. Normally more visitors mean more money.
  4. Refuse your competitor’s ads
It is wise to refuse ads from your competitors.  Otherwise your visitors will click to your competitor’s website and buy their products over there. At Google Adsense you can block website addresses of your competitors. In this particular case it is better to lower your Adsense income.
  5. Check the result of your ads
In Google Adsense you can set channels for certain ads. For example: You can make a channel left for all your ads on the left side, etc. Now you can analyze which ads give you the highest income. Also you know which ads you still have to improve.
  6. Compare all different sizes on every position
It is important to test all different sizes in every position. This is the only way to find out your best ad size and in what position you receive the highest score
  7. Don’t exaggerate!
Make sure your website is not filled with too many ads. Visitors won’t appreciate it and will never return. Make sure there is a good balance between content and ads.
  8. Don’t click your own ads
Don’t even think about making a few bucks by clicking your own ads. Google checks all ip-addresses. When they find out, they will put you on hold. That means you don’t have any Adsense income anymore.
