Hurdle one for blogs

March 11th, 2008 · No Comments

A couple of days ago I wrote the article: Seven hurdles to success. Don’t stumble!

First, I will remind you the seven hurdles,

Hurdle 1: initiative
Hurdle 2: Gathering information
Hurdle 3: Setting Goals & objectives
Hurdle 4: Choosing the right alternative
Hurdle 5: Roadmap to success
Hurdle 6: Execution
Hurdle 7: Evaluation

Today I will help you to take the first hurdle when you want to start a blog.

Before you start or even start making a business-plan for a blog, you first have to answer the following questions.

So open a new document on your computer and start answering the questions of hurdle one.

  • Why do you want to start this blog?
To make money? – How much do you want to make
    To promote yourself?
To promote your products or to generate traffic to your site
    You just like the topics
  • Why are you qualified to write this blog?
Do you have enough experience, knowledge, and education?
How can you make your blog personal?
How do you get your information?
  • In what items are your readers interested?
What topics do you have for your blog?
How do you build up regularity in topics?
  • How do you attract readers?
    How is your SEO?
How do you use social media?
How much are you going to advertise?
  • When will you post and how do you deliver?
What is your posting frequency? Once, twice or … times a week
    How do you get inspiration?
How do you deliver your messages?
Do you have a RSS feed or a newsletter?
Do you plan weekly or monthly topics?
Do you have an editorial calendar?
Are you a one person blog or a multi-bloggers blog?
  • How are financing you blog?
How much income do you need?
How much time do you have?
What ideas do you have to attract money?

To my opinion it is wise to answer this question before you start a weblog. When you have answered them, you will get a clear picture of your possibilities impossibilities. It will give you more flexibility and these answers will be the first steps in blogs road to success.

Conclusion
Well begun is half done!
