Search Engine Optimization for E-commerce sites (2)

February 4th, 2008 · No Comments

Last week Yargon gave you a tip for search engine optimization in the article Search Engine Optimization for E-commerce sites.

I often see E-commerce sites which have a lousy SEO. Of course there are a lot of tips and Search Engine Optimization for E-commerce sitestricks to improve your SEO. Although there are four tips to improve your SEO which are really very simple to implement.

These tips are:

  1. Use a proper keyword for each tag.
For example: You are selling bikes and on page six are the racing-bikes from Trek and Specialized. A proper tag will be racing-bikes from Trek and Specialized in stead of bikes13!!?? or something similar.
  2. Give each page a different tag.
I often see E-commerce sites which have the same tag for each page. A unique keyword for every page is the best for your sear engine optimization.
  3. Give every picture an alt-tag with proper keyword.
When you give every picture a proper alt-tag, all these alt-tags will influence your SEO. A proper alt-tag is a clear and short description of that picture.
  4. Target incoming links that use keywords as an anchor-tag.
This tag will definitely influence the search engines.

So when you have an E-commerce site or you have another commercial site, it is wise to check your tags to improve your SEO. When you are not sure about your tags, sent us your URL. I will give you my opinion for free.
